2. "COMMAND & REQUEST"

Command and request disebut sebagai kalimat perintah (command) dan permintaan (request).
A command/request is an imperative statement asking someone to do something.We use the simple form of the verb.
Kalimat command biasanya diiringi dengan kata-kata suruhan. Jadi ketika ingin menyuruh seseorang berbuat sesuatu, yaitu dengan menambahkan VERB yang diletakkan di depan kalimat. Apabila kalimatnya bukan kata kerja (verb), maka gunakan "be" di depan kalimat karena be sebagai pengganti verb. Tetapi “be”ini tidak ada artinya/terjemahannya.


 EXAMPLE

• Come here!
• Study diligently!
• Go away !
• Be good to her!
• Be careful!
• Don’t be a lier!
• Don’t be a loser!
• Don't look at it!
• Don't forget your lesson!
• Don't be lazy!
• Don't be stupid!
• Don't be careless !
• Don't be ashamed!
• Be a doctor!
• Be a smart people!
• Be a teacher!
• Don't be a corruptor!
• Don't be a traitor !
• Be an honest man !



Request is the way to ask somebody to do something politely.
 We can use the following expressions :

a. Can………….
b. Could…………..
c. Would………….
d. Would……..mind……..
e. Would…….mind not……..
f. Do you mind if……….
g. May I……..

 The responses to the above expressions are :

 Not at all
 All right/OK
 Of course/certainly/sure
 I am sorry, I can’t
 I am afraid, I can’t
 Sorry I can’t
 Sure no problem



 Example :


• Can you close the window ?
• Can you help me ?
• Could you please open the door?
• Could you leave me alone ?
• Would you please give me a hand ?
• Would you mind going outside for a moment ?
• Would you mind not to touch the device ?
• Do you mind if you contact me tonight ?


* Me : May I borrow your calculator ?
You : “I’m sorry. I’d like to,but I will use it in the math test now”
*Me : Can You take a tea for me ?
You : Sure no problem
*Me : Would you mind buying me a chocolate ?
You : Of course
*Me : Could you lend me your telephone tonight for calling my friend ?
You : Sorry I can’t
*Me : Would you help me to switch on the microwave in the kitchen ?
You : I am afraid, I can’t
*Me : Could someone get me a glass of water?
You : Certainly, I am going to get you one
*Me : Can you tell me about your feeling ?
You : Sorry I can’t. it so secret
